Aveda 2015 Earth Jam Benefit Celebrates Artistry of Film Via Fashion, Beauty

The recent Aveda 2015 Earth Jam Benefit celebrated the artistry of film via fashion and beauty, offering exquisite couture and attractive models.

The Aveda Institute Columbus, known for elegance, sponsored the event in order to help kids get to Camp Oty’Okwa for a fun summer.

And was it ever an enjoyable party — over 700 people (with a long list of corporate sponsors) presented by Fifth Third Bank, filled up the Lifestyle Community Pavilion downtown.

Now It’s Dark arrived early to bring you behind the scenes moments and found the ever gracious Bob Nunnally and Monica Day posing for pictures and welcoming guests.

We stopped into the Nurtur room.

I have never seen tag team hair/makeup but there’s a first for everything.

We found some models ready and took multiple pictures of them before the show started.

Event fund-raising included a set of ten live auction experiences ranging from 2 Delta tickets to anywhere in the continental U.S. to a hand made custom dress and swing coat by Malvar = Stewart and silent auction collections.

DJ A-Minor (Andre Barden) was rocking the room.

VIP Guests were lined up early on the red carpet, including local CCAD Senior Fashion Show model Gail Shamon and her friend Tobias Sagan Katz and making their way upstairs to the VIP area.

At the top of the stairs we stopped to say hello to Lesley Rider and Cameron Whaley.

The VIP party guests received a SWAG bag.

The VIP area included an area for kids to create, Yoga demonstrations by Alissa Marshall …

Hor dourves served up by Griffin Browning, Robby Luckas of BAR145 …

… And designer Celeste Malvar Stewart of Malvar = Stewart displayed her designs.

Celeste also had a sample of the rare wool materials and the farmer, Rachel Najjar of Praire Field Farms at the show.

The movie themed show started promptly at 7:45 p.m. with video clips preceding the runway presentations.

Casablanca:

The Great Gatsby:

Batman:

Grease:

Star Wars:

Mad Max:

Hunger Games:

Horst Tribute (Malvar = Stewart designs):

The show wrapped up with recognition for members of the Aveda Institue Columbus team:

And of course, there was more …

All in all, an exceptional event for a good cause. Now It’s Dark invites you to participate in the 2016 incarnation!
