CMA Wonderball 2016 Bigger, Better: The Story and the Photographs

Wonderball, the The Columbus Museum of Art event, attracted a much larger crowd of people this year into a greatly expanded museum space for a fun, high energy party.

Wonderball is becoming the seasonal place to be seen dressed well.
Last October’s museum expansion created the right amount of square footage, extending the party to over 1,200 guests, making Wonderball feel even bigger.

Guests arrived to valet service, and walked into the newly designed museum entrance …

Now It’s Dark loved the combined live music …

The DJ …

… and dressed-up museum staff …

If that didn’t get enough attention, then surely the dancing Amazing Giants moving around the tall open atrium did …

Waiters circulated, offering tasty finger foods, fortune cookies and food samples. The first floor had coffee poured by the talented brewmasters at Roosevelt Coffee House …

… and closely followed by Cherbourg Bakery, offering a variety of desserts including out-of-this-world lemon bars. Cherbourg also passed out smores, turning out to be the perfect combination with Roosevelt Coffee, amping up the energy of the party.

The culinary delight didn’t stop there – the Four Diamond awarded Refectory staff served up Bourbon & Date Chocolate Ganache …

Guests also enjoyed the fresh sushi of Fusian …

Derby Court on the second floor was packed …

… and in addition to comfortable lounge chairs …

… included Giant Jenga which turned out to be a hit. The Jenga game fortunately, included very large blocks made out of “adult safe” cardboard that prevented permanent injuries …

NID loved the artistry of Hughie’s lighting within Derby Court specifically the effects in the court seeming to sense motion and expand in Mandelbrotish ways. Both Charles Erickson and Donnie Mossman created a large face in the new event space, which, in addition to the projections and lighting, enthralled the crowd.

Derby Court was perfect to sit, catch up and play Jenga while enjoying food and drinks, but the music and dancing happened next door at the Pavilion.

And DJ Charles Erickson and Donnie Mossman had much more to offer, as they…

… kept the party rocking …

Meanwhile the rest the crowd seemed to be having fun, too.

The fashion was fast and furious with many guests pulling out the stops. NID loved the style displayed, all for the good of Columbus culture:

The next installment of Wonderball is Jan. 28, 2017.

NID will see you at the next WONDERBALL!
