Fashion Week Columbus Executive Director Thomas McClure recently kicked the 2015 scene into high gear during the launch party attended by more than 200 fashionistas at the Park Street Saloon.
“The fresh direction makes the event more approachable,” McClure explained, “and the Fashion Week Columbus (FWC) name is now also accompanied by a bigger, brighter and bolder new look.”
Founded six years ago, the non-profit organization Fashion Week Columbus celebrates chic couture from right here in Columbus (recognized as number three in the nation, employing hundreds of fashion designers) while also working to elevate local artists who bring fashion to life. The Fashion Week Finale Runway Show has grown into the most talked about exhibition in the Midwest. Designers build their careers from an FWC runway.
The season kickoff party was stocked with catered food from Made from Scratch.
The music was kept thumping with DJ Matt Majik with drinks flowing from the Park Street Saloon’s cash bar.
This was a large fashion crowd with modeling agency representation from Karen and David Sigal (Sigal Models), Stephanie Stein (S2) and Heather Hataway Penca (Found Model Management.)
As great local designers were mingling with the guests, Now It’s Dark spoke to the talented Kevin Black about his beautiful skirt with pockets and top …
Designer Genoveva Christoff said hello and graciously posed for a picture with her husband.
It’s always a pleasure running into the ever-stylish designer and branding expert Lubna Najjar (Lubna Design/IL Moda). Zuri Greer also introduced himself and offered a hint that his men’s designs will be very exciting to see at the bridal show this year.
Designers always seem to be wearing something cool, distinctive or fun but beyond the designers, Khola Waddy-Jones and Michelle Moore looked spectacular wearing jumpsuits. It’s hard for any woman, models included, to “pull off” wearing a jumpsuit well.
Host Jennifer Wilson of the Hola! TV show stopped over in-between preparing to record a segment for an upcoming episode.
Models posed during the event and the party included two mini runway shows with over twenty models, made up by the talented team sponsor Charles Penzone.
The event, with its growing reputation and impact, will feature David Tupaz, Hollywood red carpet designer and couture genius, closing the finale show.
The next Fashion Week Columbus event is Easton Fashion Night on Sept. 24 at Easton Town Center.
Now It’s Dark will see you there!
